What is RACES?

Races is an organization that is made up of amateur radio operators, who are registered with local authorities (ie Sherrif's departement), to assist in providing emergency communications in the case of a natural disaster.

RACES members reveive special training from the Red Cross in the areas of dammage assesment, shelter management and emergency communications procedures.

When checking in to the Thursday night 6:45 p.m. ARES/RACES net, please first try to check in on 147.510 simplex. If you can't make contact here, proceed to the 145.11 repeater. In case of an emergency, if the repeater is down, we'll all have a simplex frequency where we can meet.
